National Philanthropy Day

Doing good for others should be its own rewards. But when a business gets involved, it can mean even more. Choosing to establish a partnership with a non-profit organization can boost your comporate image and sales. Here are a few examples.

Maximize advertising through sponsorship of community events.
Community events offer large visibility to consumers. Sponsors have opportunities to promote their businesses at a very reduced rate from media advertising. Possibilities include promo materials in event bags, having your logo placed on event T-shirts, and banner and booth displays the day of events. Since media outlets often cover these events, your company may also receive free exposure through them.

Generate traffic from the organizations you sponsor.
Offer to sponsor an organization’s website or email newsletter in exchange for banner ads and links to your company’s website. If the organization maintains a blog, request that they make a post to promote your partnership.

Promote the services and products you can offer directly.
If you have a new service or product to offer, make it available to a non-profit for free or very reduced cost. Allow them to become a testimonial to how your business helps them further their mission in the community.

Show a personal investment by giving your time.
Many organizations function exclusively through volunteers. Encourage all members of your company to spend a few hours a month giving of their time to an organization. Include this information in your promotional materials to prospective clients to show your committment to the community.

eMarketSouth is proud to be web service providers for several Savannah non-profit and community service agencies, including Cathedral of St. John the Baptists’ Council of Catholic Women, Coastal Pet Rescue, Girl Scout Council of Savannah, Liblines, Tybee Beautification and Wilderness Southeast.

Understanding the importance of giving back to the community, eMarketSouth developed its own volunteer initiative in 2004. Team E works to get our clients involved to fulfill local needs of our community. Past events have included supply drives for local children’s organizations, bowl-a-thons to benefit breast cancer awareness and animal welfare, food drives, and beach cleanups at Tybee Island.

So take a few moments today to reflect on how your company can improve the local community. You just might find it improves you as well.

Honoring Those Who Serve

Today is a special day for us to take reflection and honor the men and women who have given of their time and their lives to protect our freedoms. We probably all know a Veteran in our own lives, but how much thought have we given to their actual sacrifices? Think about the time taken away from family and loved ones, and pursuits they may have been put on hold all so that we could live somewhere to be free to express our thoughts and chase our own dreams.

eMarketSouth is very proud to be the web provider for two local Veterans groups.

American Legion Post 135 first opened its doors in Savannah, Georgia in 1946. Their website provides information on membership, community outreach, Americanism, and even rental of its facilities.

The Veterans Council of Chatham County is composed of veterans group from the Chatham County area. Their website features the latest in organization news, monthly meetings, links to member organizations, events calendar, and list of Veterans memorials in Chatham County. You can also show your support for our Veterans by purchasing a brick to be included in the WWII Memorial in downtown Savannah’s Oglethorpe Square.

Want to celebrate the sacrifices of our veterans? Another of our clients, Buy Local Savannah, is sponsoring a special event to raise funds for the new WWII Memorial in Oglethorpe Square. Join them December 7 at the Jepson Center for the Reds, Whites and Blues gala.

Take a moment to visit these websites and leave the organizations a message that you support those who have given their ultimate support for our country.

Featured Blog … southernmamas.com

Today’s featured blog is www.southernmamas.com by Anne Hart. Check it out! Anne Hart is a contributer for the Savannah Morning News. She is married with a child and wants to develop a website for southern moms to visit and find useful resources, parenting tips and family friendly area events. This is an excellent example of a well planned website with a very focused intention. It works well because we designed and host it … oh sorry I was bragging about emarketsouth again… as I was saying … it works well for a number of reasons:

… fills a gap … we have coastal family magazine but we needed a family friendly web resource.

… stays current … Anne posts and promotes faithfully keeping content current, interesting and requiring people to revisit everyday so they don’t miss out!

maintains focus … the content doesn’t stray away from it’s intended audience. She researched her topics so when we went live … she hit the ground running and stays focused on moms, children, local events and happenings.

I strongly encourage you to visit, subscribe and comment … we all like to hear what our readers are thinking … until next time … happy blogging!
