Featured Client: Providence Tax & Financial Services

You can’t begin to know Providence Tax & Financial Services without first knowing James Rahal, president and founder of this 100% paperless tax preparation service company. James is a graduate of Benedictine Military School and University of Georgia. He excelled in athletics & academics at Georgia and in true Georgia Bulldog fan fashion, similar bulldog colors were chosen for his website and logo. After working with several tax and accounting firms in the Savannah area and becoming frustrated with the services being too costly, he decided to start a company that would offer tax and financial services but in a paperless and more efficient way. In December of 2001, Providence Tax & Financial Services was started with the mission “To be America’s best and most proficient tax firm that operates with ethics, integrity, and innovation”. The website design is clean and simple with a navigation bar that includes services offered, client login page and frequently asked questions page. Take a look at the site and visit the page describing the mission, vision and history behind the name Providence, I promise you will be impressed with the company.

Spires Gibson … the newest addition

We have a new account executive at eMarketSouth, Spires Gibson but you can call him Spy. (for those of you wondering … Spires is a family name) Spy comes to us from the Statesboro area where he was raised and attended college. He earned a degree in Public Relations at the Georgia Southern University before moving to Savannah and joining our team. He is a member of Sigma Chi, lives with his pooch and has spent lots of time on the water since moving to the coast. He is learning the language we throw around the office and being a good sport about the geek speak. Pretty soon we will wonder what we ever did without our very own Spy. When you are out networking around town and run into him, introduce yourself and let him know you have read about his new venture into website sales. You can also find him on myspace and facebook so look him up or contact him by email: spires@emarketsouth.com

What a Website Can Do for Your Non-Profit

There is no greater feeling of giving back to the community. But with so many non-profits, how do donors choose who gets their donations?

Guidestar.org complies information on more than 1.7 million non-profits. That’s a lot of competition. But you can edge your way to the top if you are taking advantage of your organization’s website.

Each year, I conduct a workshop through the Georgia Center for Non-Profits on how non-profits should utilize their website to the greatest advantages. Many have used a start-up template site, such as those offered through Yahoo! GeoCities or Go Daddy. The problem is ultimately, you get what you pay for. If your website does not capture your visitors in the first 10 seconds, you have no opportunity to capture their donations. While it may be better to have something than nothing, visitors with a bad first impression are less likely to return again.

As a non-profit, you need to effectively and concisely explain who you are, what you are doing, and how you are benefiting your local community. Don’t welcome visitors with depressing images. Give them something positive to read through, reflect upon, and then donate. Are you allowing visitors to donate through your website? If not, you are really missing out. CoastalPetRescue.org had a visitor from Indiana read a story online about a dog needing $5,000 in orthopedic surgery and left them a $1,000 donation through their website. It really is that simple.

So what are you to do? Lucky for you, we at eMarketSouth have experience with non-profit websites and can offer you solutions to facilitate communicating your mission to the online community. Give us a call today and let us show you how your organization can further its mission with a strong online presence.
